HONG KONG TRAVEL BRIEF
The clubs: at the weekends, it can be tricky to get into the hotter venues. To get past the quaintly named “door bitches”, phone ahead and get your name down. Most clubs do not charge for admission, but drinks cost about £5 a pop. For details on who is DJing where, and news on big one-off club nights, visit (HKClubber.com)
Get out there: Cathay Pacific (020 7747 8888, www.cathaypacific.com) flies direct from Heathrow; from £515. Virgin (01293 747747, www.virgin.com) and BA (0845 773 3377, www.ba.com) also fly direct from Heathrow; regional add-ons start at £59. In Dublin, Ebookers (01 241 5689, www.ebookers.ie) has flights with BA via London; from €654.
Where to crash: the Hotel Inter-Continental Hong Kong (0800 028 9387, www.intercontinental.com) has sumptuous rooms looking out across Victoria Harbour to Hong Kong Island. A half-price special offer is currently running, with harbour-view doubles from £195 a night. On Hong Kong Island, try the three-star Island Pacific (00 852-2131 1188), where doubles start at £92. For budget clubbers, there is Rentaroom (2366 3011) in Kowloon; dorm beds start at £10.50pp.
